Hawken looks fantastic for being an indie game! Now you might be asking yourself, What is Hawken? Well it's a new mech combat FPS, that was announced to the world on March 9th by Adhesive Games. Adhesive Games is a small 9 man indie developer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Whom until their recent announcement of Hawken were pretty much unknown. They've been working on Hawken for about 9 months now and it looks down right impressive. They've been developing Hawken on the Epic Unreal Engine and it only utilizes DirectX 9 so that they can hopefully port it over to the PS3 and Xbox 360 with relative ease down the road.
Hawken is going to be multiplayer only according to Khang Le the team leader at Adhesive. Here's his statement on singleplayer from an interview. "We would have liked to expand to singleplayer, but our goal was to have a small team and finish it in a short amount of time. Singleplayer missions and campaigns are very intensive and require a much larger team to do properly. Sure, we could just slap in some mechs and singleplayer missions but I wouldn't want to have a crappy singleplayer campaign."
There's going to be several multiplayer game types. They include deathmatch and team deathmatch as well as two undisclosed team based games. Khang Le also said that they would like to include a horde style mode if time permits it.
Now check out the newly released gameplay footage below and tell me your not a little bit excited.

That looks pretty cool. I love the way the guns sound and the “whooshing” noise the mech makes when its flying.
I saw this. Looks great for a small group. Makes me wonder what these big companies are doing with their manpower.
